CONGREGATIONAL ACTIVITIES


SUNDAY SCHOOL

for Christian children from KG to Matriculation levels (app. 4-16 year olds)
(Enrollment varies between 150-200 students per year)

Aim:- to inculcate and develop a strong Christian faith in Christian children by:
- teaching them about Jesus and the basics of the Bible;
- preparing them to accept Jesus Christ as their personal saviour.

Method:-
a) Praise and worship in church - Half-an-hour;

b) Ten classes, taught by twenty teachers - Half-an-hour;
(curriculum taught is age-group based)

Activities:-
a) Singing at:
- Christian conventions at Taxila , and, if possible, wherever else invited;
- Christmas and Easter services & functions at Taxila.

b) Staging Christmas dramas or tableaus every year at Presbyterian Church, Taxila.

c) Participating, in Sunday School rallies in Taxila & Wah;
(and, if possible, in Islamabad & Rawalpindi)

d) Contributing a small annual financial gift to each of the following institutions:
- the Pakistan Bible Society, Lahore;
- Scripture Union, Lahore;
- Boys’ Hostel, Pasrur;
- (till it closed down in 2009),Boys’ Hostel, Rawalpindi.
History:- Started in 1982 by Ms. Heera Lal.
- Carried on by Sr. Bashir-ud-Din and Sr. Hamida William (after Ms. Heera Lal’s death).
- Passed on to Sr. Wenny Lekardal, who introduced an age-group based curriculum.
- Passed on to Dr. Phyllis Dean (after Sr. Wenny’s retirement).




YOUTH GROUP

for:
a)Christian youth of college & university age-groups
b)young Christian professionals
(Enrollment varies between 25-30 young people per year)

Aim:- to inculcate and develop a strong Christian faith in young Christian men and women by:
- praise and worship (the group has developed an excellent choir);
- studying and discussing scripture;
- discussing relevance of scripture to everyday life and problems;
- applying scripture to personal life, society, and community.

Method:- Weekly meetings for Bible study and discussions, praise & worship.

Activities:-
a)
Holding & attending seminars relevant to personal life, society, and community.

b)Singing at:
- Christian conventions at Taxila & Wah; and, if possible wherever else invited;
- Christmas and Easter services & functions at Taxila and Wah.
c) Volunteering as Sunday School teachers & helpers at Presbyterian Church, Taxila.
d) Occasionally staging a Christmas and Easter full-length play.

WOMEN SOCIETY

for Christian Women of all Ages, & all Levels of Education
(Enrollment varies between 16-20 students per year)

Aim:- to inculcate and develop a strong Christian faith in Christian women by:
- studying and discussing scripture;
- discussing relevance of scripture to everyday life and problems;
- applying scripture to personal life, society, and community.

Method:- Fortnightly meetings for Bible study and discussions.

Activities:- a) Providing some financial help to:
- a few needy and poor Christians;
- institutions such as the Pakistan Bible Society, and Scripture Union.

b) Staging Christmas and Easter dramas or tableaus every year at Presbyterian Church, Taxila.

History:- Started in 1989 by a group of women from Presbyterian Church, Taxila.

OTS (OPEN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY) COURSES

Open theological seminary (OTS) program was started in Christian hospital Taxila in 1985. Various number of people participate in this program in various period. A lot of people has been completed several courses, but estimately 10 people has reached to achieve certificate in theology, and 7 people (Dr Phyllis Dean, Mrs Akhtar Joseph Lall, Mrs Hameeda William, Mrs Shamim Kennith, Miss Magdlene Anwar, Mr Liaquat Aftab, Mr Rokas Riaz) has been become teachers. It is the best program to spiritual enhancement for the staff members and their children. Still this program is running routine wise by the grace of God.

VOCATIONAL BIBLE SCHOOL

for Christian children (age limit 5-16 year) (Enrollment varies between 120-150 students per year)

Aim:- to inculcate and develop a strong Christian faith in Christian children by:
- teaching them about Jesus and the basics of the Bible;

b) Religious Songs, Hand work (drawing) and Bible Verses taught by Fifteen teachers - Half-an-hour; (curriculum taught is three age-groups based)
